All right, so Panic is a company that makes some good stuff for OS X, in particular a program called Transmit, which I use for all my FTP adventures. But I was poking around the company site today and I found this silliness right here . . .
It’s hilarious stuff for a few reasons. I love the comments the Japanese people make about the snack foods, because frankly, who doesn’t like reading things like:
“I was bewildered by bitterness for a while. However, it made me the peculiarity. Do you like the sour cream taste? Yes?? I push it!!”
“Are a sweet candy and salty popcorn friends? As for me, the feeling became bad by simply imagining.”
It’s also a fun read because it’s not too hard to figure out what the Japanese people wrote originally. The online translation machine used to produce that English (according to the page, anyway) isn’t working right now, but the mistakes it makes are the same ones that most machine translation engines do . . . Focus on words, not sentences; focus on morphemic meaning, not semantic sense. And I imagine the output was cleaned up considerably even to get to where those comments are.
I’m not out of a job yet.
