In here:Out there:A&L Daily has more things to read than you can get here. A friend also writes interesting stuff. Here's a rabbit. |
What's been done so farTime to fly (2003.8.26)Tomorrow we head to California. Adam gets married on Saturday, and I get to wear a tuxedo and give a speech. Write me e-mail if you are going to be in the Bay Area between 8/27 and 9/3 and maybe we can meet up . . . There is a wee bit too much work on my plate right now. It needs to get done before I get on the plane, but the sleep situation isn't looking pretty . . . coffee is my friend at this point. Coffee, and the ability to refrain from making quick pages for pictures I got from the Millers. See the gang in Egypt and some new kid pics right here! NEPAD and TICAD and all sorts of African aid acronyms await me . . . back to MS Word and my dictionary software. Zzzzz. News from Jason (2003.8.21)I got mail from cousin Jason (he sent it to my Yahoo account that I never check, so probably everyone else already knows this) with exciting things written in it: "We are pregnant!!! That's right, there will soon be a new member to the Durfee household. Momma (Leanne) is about 4-5 weeks along, so the approximate due date is March 29th. Just so you don't have to ask, we are not going to know the sex of the baby until we have him or her in our arms. Sorry to those of you that like to get things ready ahead of time, but you'll just have to wait for the surprise with the rest of us. So anyways, just wanted to share the good news with you all, we are extremely happy and are so very glad that we have such a great support group (all of you) to share this beautiful experience with. Much love, Jason + Leanne + Baby" Congratulations! Birthday pictures (2003.8.21)I got the pictures from Kentaro . . . see them right here. Getting older, wiser (2003.8.18)I am 33 years old now. To celebrate this important hobbit milestone I went out to dinner in Kichijoji (good Thai food) and then on to have drinks at a couple of bars, including my favorite Kichi watering hole, Funky. Michael Staley came out for the evening, and we were joined by Kentaro Relnick, who owes me pictures of all of this . . . especially the one of me wearing a huge sombrero and posing between the sparklers on my enormous complimentary fattening ice cream mountain thingy. It was a nice, relaxing birthday; not much happened. I'm going to treat this site as more of a web log, I think. Write shorter things more frequently. Post them on this front page and let them slide onto the Articles listings as I run out of room here. It's something I've been playing with on Xanga, where some other friends also have blogs (I hate that word for some reason) set up. I'll still be setting up separate article pages for photo collections and crazed Chinese documents and whatnot, of course. And if I can figure out the mysteries of this database thing there will be a forum in place soon . . . I'd like to get it up before I head to California but there are lots of other things that promise to take all my time until then. Oh well. Older Stuff:I received plenty of pictures in the mail over the last couple of weeks. Some of them are now up for your viewing pleasure on this page. Miller kids, Durfee kids, family wedding shots. (2003.7.8) There's a new look here, and it's going to filter through all the content as I have time to make it do so. I salvaged some things from old pages that will disappear soon and put them here. You'll probably wonder why they were worth saving, but this is my site, so I make the decisions around here. (2003.6.28) On May 24 some old ASIJ people got together in Kichijoji. Cindy immortalized the night in pictures, and now you can see them here. (2003.6.10) Early last month Adam turned 29. I finally got around to uploading pictures of the occasion. Enjoy! (2003.5.16) A bit of an update. What I've been doing, what I've been seeing online. Right here. (2003.4.17) Durfee is the skipper. Durfee is up in the air. Durfee is the reigning hawaiian vintage chocolate outstanding pastry chef. Durfee is . . . (2003.3.14) I added some pictures of George Miller sent by Leslie. (2003.3.12) "Here is doing charitable work at the same time being site that publish on-line newspaper. Gwanryeonkkape that member is increasing distance from one stage now will do Alkyeo." More. (2003.2.21) A few of the nicer ice and snow photos are up in higher-res versions. Go grab a desktop picture for your computer. (2003.2.12) I dumped a bunch of pictures from our weekend ski trip onto the server. See them here. I might trim this selection later and make a nice page with details about the shots, but for now you get visuals only. (2003.2.10) A list of rules for quality writing. Yeah, this'll help. (2003.2.7) A quick review of my brand new computer. Two thumbs up! And eight fingers! And some toes! (2003.2.4) Another thing up with some of the goings-on in my online life. Nothing to do with real existence, mind you. (2003.1.20) I put up a set of pictures from a recent ski trip to the most crowded resort in all Japan. Check out the shots. (2002.12.25) Another blurb of text and a few pictures from winters past. Right here. (2002.12.6) The next set of pictures from Sweden is on the web. (2002.11.28) Added some long lists of Japanese names (kanji and readings) to the translation page. A nice resource to have when guessing at a name pronunciation. (2002.11.25) I had a bit of time to put some random stuff up. Really random. (2002.11.21) Here's the first 20 pictures from our trip to Scandinavia. Behold us in Stockholm! (2002.11.20) Marriage: I did it. With my wife, actually. See proof right here. (2002.8.13) "Today we played a trick on the old lady. We put trash and coins on the floor and ketchup on the car." More. (2002.8.12) Two new things today, both grabbed out of my old mail folders. I like 'em. Scott Kemme writes about his day at a NASCAR race. James See lays down the facts about games he played as a child. Check 'em out. (2002.8.8) Well, it's not new, but I updated the Ping Yao Cheng document and put it here for your reading pleasure. Ten brutal tortured deaths if you don't check it out! (2002.8.6) |
