| I am now working full-time at Japan Echo. The company puts out a magazine six times a year; we also translate and edit for a webpage introducing Japan to children, an organization aiding foreign reporters in Japan, a site reporting on recent trends in the country, and an institute that puts out the Japan Review of International Affairs, which takes up too much of my time. We also do plenty of work that is not linkable.
Most of my translation is in the fields of politics, economics, and current affairs. I need to keep up with the news in Japan. The Internet helps me do this: To the right is a constantly updated feed of some headlines on Japanese happenings. If you want to know what's happening on this side of the pond, and you want to read about it in English, I recommend News on Japan. It's a good place to go. The net is a fine resource for news and other info on Japan. It's also a great way to get in touch with other translators, which can make this job worlds easier.Don't know how to tackle this tricky phrase in Japanese? Post a question to the Honyaku list. Need some advice from experienced senpai? There are plenty of them in the Japan Association of Translators. Can't make the computer display Japanese properly? Nihongo Computing is where to turn. And there is always Engrish. As I decide whether to turn this into a page to sell my services, I will figure out what needs to go here.
